With the result of samples taken from some volunteers in some medical facilities in Bonny Local Government Area returning two positive results for COVID-19, a popular Facebook user, Pepple Medline Tonye has advised the authorities in the area on how to manage the situation to check community spread and cushion the effects on residents of the area.

In a comment she made in response to a post, she outlined the following:

1. Lock down Bonny immediately.

2. Stop all boats from moving and restrict all unnecessary movement.

3. Provide palliative and deliver it door to door.

4. While people are home start testing and picking up samples.

5. Medical doctors should be part of the Covid19 task force.

6. Everyone that has died in the past 2weeks should be tested for the virus.

7. Use of nose mask must be implemented immediately.

8. Everyone that has been exposed to a sick person or dead person should self-isolate immediately.

9. Everyone should be honest and take responsibility.

10. I hear Bonny has 10 bed capacity in the isolation centre, that is a big joke. We shouldn’t have less than a 100 bed space. I am not impressed at all. The government can do better than this.

Very impactful suggestions. I hope the govt will key into this. And also hope the residents of Bonny Island will adhere strictly to the guidelines. They should also change their mindset of “This virus is not real”. Let them take it seriousl and play their parts while the govt play theirs.
