Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, David Irimagha has lauded the lawmaker representing Ward 8 in the Bonny Legislative Assembly, Mie-Iyeoju Jumbo for connecting with his administration’s vision to provide access to Education for the children in the area.

Irimagha gave this commendation during the commissioning of canoe provided by Jumbo for pupils and students in Dan-Jumbo, Beresiri, Jumbo Isile-Ogono, Green’s Iwoama, and William-Jumbo communities who attend Community Primary School, Green’s Iwoama, Community Primary School, Dan-Jumbo, and Community Secondary School, Burukiri.

Represented by his Vice, Anengi Barasua, the Bonny LG boss also praised the Ward 8 Councillor for intervening to provide a solution to the challenge posed by the riverine terrain that children in the area faced in their quest to access quality Education.

“I am delighted to be here to do this commissioning in this ward. The Councillor has touched my heart in that he has tackled one of the challenges we face from the rural area, which is access to Education”.

“What he has just done is to help our children have access to Education so that they can go home and continue with their studies. We all know that our terrain, which is the river, is one of the challenges and limitations we have been having”.

The Ward 8 Councillor, Mie-Iyeoju Jumbo said he made the decision to provide the canoe as the affected communities were difficult to access especially during low tide and thus hampered the children’s ability to go to their schools.

Irimagha praised him for prioritizing the safety of the children that will be utilizing the boat by providing them with life jackets.

So I want use this opportunity to thank you. I also want to thank you for considering the safety of the children by providing them with life jackets. I know that he has done this out of the bosom of his heart and the little he is earning. God will bless you, God will replenish your pocket”.

Speaking at the event, the lawmaker explained that his decision to provide the boat was hinged on his commitment to “assist the younger ones so that they can go to school and do better than I have done now. That is why I am doing this. It is to support their transport, not just my ward but all others and we will do same for other villages too”.

“We had to add life vests for safety. To make the movement for anybody that wants to come here. I thank everyone of you for coming”. Speaking on behalf of the Green’s Iwoama Community, Emmanuel Green said “We are grateful today as our Councillor, the Councillor of Ward 8 has deemed it fit to provide this boat to ferry our students across to help them keep up with their studies. We are grateful, more grease to your elbow. God bless you”.
