JUST IN! No Child Kidnapped in Bonny, LG Council Asserts

The Bonny Local Government Council has dismissed as false a viral claim alleging that children were kidnapped at Bonny Government School, describing the report as misleading and capable of inciting panic.

In a statement issued on Saturday, June 13, 2026, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Council Chairman, Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo, the LG Council said it had conducted immediate verification with relevant security agencies and the management of the school, confirming that no such incident occurred.

According to the statement, there has been no reported case of child kidnapping either at Bonny Government School or anywhere within Bonny Local Government Area.

The LG Council urged residents and the general public to disregard the voice note circulating on social media, noting that the information is unfounded and could create unnecessary fear among parents and guardians.

Chairman of Bonny LGA, Abinye Pepple, called on residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear. He also cautioned against the spread of unverified information.

The chairman assured that security agencies remain vigilant and are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of residents. The council further appealed to members of the public with credible information about the source of the false report to report such individuals to the appropriate security authorities.

The statement reaffirmed the council’s commitment to maintaining peace and security within the area.
