The Mayor of Housing, My-Ace China, who recently won the NMOMA Personality of the Year Award, has yet again clinched the Peace Legend Awards 2023.

China, narrating how he earned the awards, stated emphatically that one of the most underrated resources in Nigeria are the youths, expressing his will to support them as they are boosters of the Nigerian economy.

“I guess it is because our group, The Construction and Housing Mayor Limited, started actions in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) organically, most companies would want to start CRS when they feel they have attained the heights. On our part, we are one of the few companies, if not the only one, that started CRS as a start-up”.

“While we are starting, we are doing CRS right away, or even before we started, as little as we were and as we are growing, we grow in CRS with the community. We started doing CRS project even before we started. For instance, in Alesa Eleme, in Rivers State, where we have the Alesa Highland Sustainable City, we already have youths that are empowered for security.”

“This is not only for us but to protect the entire community because if there is no peace, your project cannot even start. We now feel that those little strides we felt were not noticed seem to have been noticed here today”.

“Yes, one of the most underrated resources in the Niger Delta is youth. Aside my investments for peace in my host community, I am one of the most vocal advocates and a big supporter of youth. Yesterday, Saturday December 9, 2023, I received an award as the Highest Entertainment Supporter of the Year 2023’ from no other than the Directors Guild of Nigeria (Film Directors) in Rivers State. I support these upcoming art practitioners.

“There are two ways to empower the youth: either to employ them or support their skills. For the fact that we cannot employ all of them, but we have a little capacity to support their skills, we do it. This goes a long way”.

He recommended his model of supporting the youths to others seeking to start businesses in the Niger Delta.

“I not only recommend this model to multinationals seeking to start businesses in the Niger Delta, I go further to tell them that there is treasure in the youth. Our company is getting this level of attention because of the youths”.

“Over 60 percent of the population of Nigeria is youth, and you cannot underrate such size or segment of your population. Because there is scarcity of support, anybody that tries to support them genuinely, is embraced by these people. There is no telling where these youths can take you to because these youths are connected.

“Every single value we have got in this state comes on the back of the recommendations of these youths. They may not have the resources to patronize us but they know those that can and they recommend us”.

China who is also a United Nations Mayor of Peace expressed satisfaction with the Rivers State governor for launching the 20,000 units housing project, expressing dissatisfaction in the federal government’s appropriation bill.

“I was disappointed with the 2024 appropriation bill of the federal government, the only place I have seen action in the housing and property sector is Rivers State, The person that has excited me in the housing sector in Nigeria is Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State who has not only articulated a policy on this, who has not only launched and proposed into a bill the 20,000 units housing project but the ground breaking will be done this week”.
