We’ll Work With Sim Fubara for Development, LG Chairman Says, Commends Lawmaker for Fulfilling Electoral Promises

Amidst the gale of resignations from the Rivers State Government led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Anengi Claude-Wilcox says her administration will work with the Governor to develop her LGA.

A statement by her Press Secretary, Boma Waribor on Sunday, December 17, 2023 in Bonny, Rivers State, informed that she made this declaration during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of women’s hall in Akiama Community, Bonny LGA, Rivers State.

Claude-Wilcox, who described Fubara as her “boss”, asserted that Bonny LGA, under her watch, will work with the Governor in his quest to deliver good governance and democratic dividends to the people of the State.

She declared that “Bonny LGA would continue to unanimously work with the Amaopusenibo Sir Siminialayi Fubara led Rivers State Government towards attracting the much needed development projects to Bonny LGA.”

She also used the occasion to commend the lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo for fulfilling his electoral promises, noting that both of their offices have maintained sustained synergy.   

“The Council Chairman commended the Spokesman of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Oko-Jumbo for staying true to his electoral promises, while highlighting the synergy that they both enjoy.”

At the occasion, Oko-Jumbo, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Information, presented a 100KVA generator to Arugbanama and Polokiri villages and a cash token of over N3 million to support small businesses and youth entrepreneurship.

Speaking, Victor Oko-Jumbo expressed his gratitude to State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara for standing with him through the litigation challenge on his mandate, recalling that the process was a major distraction but now that everything is over in his favour, the road is clear for the delivery of the dividends of democracy.

“Let me emphasize that the Rivers State Governor means well for not just the people of Rivers State but Bonny in particular. We have every reason to support him because this is our time.”   

Among the large crowd of residents, leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bonny LGA, at the Akiama playground, were a former member of the House of Representatives, Randolph Brown, former Speaker, Adams Dabotorudima, former members, Evans Bipi and Aye Pepple, and current members, Goodboy Sokari, Solomon Sokolo, and Prince Picolo, of the Rivers State House of Assembly, respectively, amongst others.
