You have done well but do more – Bonny Monarch to ExxonMobil as multinational donates ferry boats

As a way of supporting the efforts of the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom in finding sustainable solution to the marine transport challenge facing the community, Mobil Producing Nigeria Limited (MPN) has donated two passenger boats to Bonny Kingdom.

The multinational firm handed over the ferries today to the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward William Dappa Pepple III, Perekule XI, CON, who was represented by the Secretary of the King Perekule Palace, Chief Abel Attoni at the Coal Beach, Bonny.

Receiving the two boats on behalf of the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, Chief Abel Attoni, who is also the Chief and Head of Attoni House of Bonny Kingdom, commended Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN) Limited for sterling records in terms of corporate social responsibility but asserted that they needed to do more for the community.

Attoni thanked MPN and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for their kind gesture, reaffirming the commitment of Bonny Kingdom in ensuring that they continue to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere in carrying out the business.   

“His Majesty King (Dr) Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, Perekule XI, CON, JP, Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Ancient Grand Bonny Kingdom sends his greetings. Thank you. We know is not enough, but thank you we must say, thank you.”

Earlier, while handing over the boats to His Majesty, King William Dappa Pepple III, represented by Chief Abel Attoni, the Offshore Installations Manager (OIM) of MPN, Isiaka Idowu expressed gratitude to the Amanyanabo and people of Bonny Kingdom for the hospitality and accommodating spirit the company has enjoyed since its arrival in the area, noting that Bonny LGA remains one of the most peaceful environments within the Niger Delta region.

Also speaking, Commander of the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Nigeria Navy (NN), Bonny, Commodore Kola Oguntuga praised the peaceful disposition of the people of Bonny Kingdom, noting that it was unique across the country, especially, the Niger Delta region.

Commodore Oguntuga stressed that it was unlike other places where he has served and pledged the commitment of himself and officers and men of the Nigerian Navy in Bonny to do his best to ensure Bonny continues to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere.

Community Liaison Officer (CLO) of Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN) Limited, Dr Bara Kabaka Brown, who led members of the MPN delegation to the event, also reiterated that MPN holds Bonny Kingdom in very high esteem.
