Reactions have started trailing the blockade of the Train 7 project site by a section of the Brown House of Finima on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in Bonny, Rivers State.
This time, the Tobin (Konibo-ye-Awanta) House of Finima in Bonny Kingdom, Rivers State says the blockade is a reasonable cause but with an illegal approach.
Chairman of the House, Darlington Tobin told Kristina Reports on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 that the Tobin House was not consulted by the Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown led section of the Brown House before embarking on the blockade.
He said consequent upon that, the Tobin House would not identify with the action against Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited and Daewoo Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited by the Brown House.
This is like addressing a reasonable cause with an illegal approach.
“We’re not aware and was not consulted by that section of the Brown House and we can never align with them on such venture because they’re not the legitimate leaders of Finima Community and cannot represent our interest in any guise.”
“This event can only be accepted if it’s represent the three components of Finima Community (The Attoni, Brown and Tobin Houses).”
Youths from Finima Community had shut down the Train 7 project site by blocking the H Block entrance into the site thus preventing workers of Saipem, Daewoo and Cico Cico Construction and Leasing Company from accessing their workplaces.
The protesters demanded, among other things, the implementation of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act 2010 and its Community Content Guideline (CCG) 2017.
The Train 7 project belongs to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) with SCD JV (Saipem, Chiyoda, Daewoo Joint Venture) as its Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor.
