Former House of Assembly aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and an opinion leader in Bonny Kingdom, Onimi Kabaka has called on the people of Rivers State, especially, Bonny Local Government Area, to embrace the development plans of his party and its governorship candidate, Tonye Cole as captured in his manifesto.

Kabaka, who made this call in a telephone interview with Kristina Reports on Thursday, November 17, 2022, said APC has the best intentions for the State and especially Bonny LGA, stressing that the implementation of party’s manifesto would end the dearth of developmental projects and state government presence in the area.

Tonye Cole had on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in the presence of the APC Leader in Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, his running mate, Dr Innocent Barikor, amongst other chieftains, launched his manifesto which was predicated on three pillars of Social Welfare, Developmental Infrastructure, Peace and Security.

Reacting to the launch of the manifesto, Onimi Kabaka, who is a former House of Assembly aspirant on the platform of the APC, lamented the apparent neglect of Bonny LGA in the scheme of things since the Nyesom Wike led government in Rivers State under the People Democratic Party (PDP), asserting that those dark days will end with the emergence of Cole and Barikor as Governor and Deputy Governor.

THE LAUNCH: L-R Andrew Uchendu, Sampson Agbaru, Emeka Beke, Chibuike Amaechi, Tonye Cole, Innocent Barikor, Victor Giadom, and Otelemaba Flag-Amachree, amongst others at the official launch of the APC Manifesto in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

He urged the Bonny electorate to make wise and informed choices in the 2023 general elections, pointing out that it was time to exit emotional considerations in deciding who governs the State, emphasizing that those trusted with power have continuously failed Bonny LGA since 2015 when they assumed office.

In their manifesto, Tonye Cole and Dr Innocent Barikor declared that revamping the Education sector, entrenching people based progressive governance and returning Rivers State to the path of developmental progress would be their focus when elected into office in 2023.

Kabaka assured that come 2023 when APC takes over the reins of power in Rivers State, Bonny LGA will smile again as she would reckoned with in the scheme of things, positing that given the humongous contributions of the LGA to the revenue profile of the Federal Government and Rivers State there was no justification to the abject neglect she was being subjected to.
