The Proprietor and Founder of Destiny Academy, a Montessori nursery and primary school based in Bonny, Rivers State, Nigeria, Caroline Benstowe has highlighted the importance of exercise as a health boosting activity.
Benstowe, who came out with this in an interview with Kristina Reports on Saturday March 25, 2023 during the school’s maiden Inter-House Sports Competition in Bonny, Rivers State, stated that “what I want to achieve is to let the society or the world at large to know the importance of exercise.”
The Destiny Academy proprietor, who is also the Presiding Pastor of Revelation International Bible Ministry, Bonny, recounted the milestones the academy has achieved in its 10 years of existence, stressing that relentless effort, unprecedented energy and incredible commitment on the part of the management and staff has ensured the success of the event, ascribing all glory to God Almighty.
“It has not been an easy one, it has taken us a lot of hardwork, a lot of commitment, determination and to God be the glory, we are here today celebrating our first annual inter-house sports.”
Also speaking, Principal of the academy, Chikodi Abel said that “exercise is good for everybody, both young and old,” expressing optimism that the objectives of the school in using sports to advertise good health, mental alertness and overall development of the pupils would be achieved.
On her part, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Inter-House Sports Competition, Gladys Banigo expressed elation at the maiden Competition, said it was a sign of greater things to come for the budding school, attributing the success of the event to the synergy between the parents, teachers and everyone else.
On his part, the school’s Sports Master, Trust Jackson expressed joy seeing the children jubilating, saying that the competition was the outcome of years of planning,” adding “sometimes, we plan and it looks as if it will not work out; the training, the practice has been difficult but we thank God we were able to actualize this”.
The excitement of the pupils got to its peak as the results of the competition were announced. Light House came first with 140 points, ahead of Unity House, which came second with 139 points, followed by Progress House, with 138 points, and Peace House with 118 points.
Highlight of the competition was the presentation of trophies to the winning house, and the first and second runners-up.
