Global Competitiveness Remains Our Goal for Sports – Principal Says at Lucille Education Centre’s Inter-House Sports

Lucille Education Centre (LEC) says the aim of organizing sporting events such as its annual Inter-House Sports Competition is to groom her students to compete globally in Sports.

Principal of the School, Esau Enyinna disclosed this in an interview with Kristina Reports on the sidelines of its maiden Inter-House Sports Competition on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in Bonny, Rivers State.

“One area of consideration is to ensure that we train these children not just to become the best around but to compete internationally.

“So, by next year, we will try to look for people that would undertake checking the children and bringing them to the limelight.”

He said students and pupils of the institution were being groomed to appreciate the benefits in Sports, pointing out that Sports engenders friendship and social cohesion.

“For Lucille, we have taken a step forward by engaging the students to understand the beauty in Sports. In Sports, cohesion and friendship are the things we have to really understand and so, we have built in them those spirits.”

On his part, Chairman of the occasion, Godswill Jumbo, who is also a parent, commended Lucille Education Centre for organizing the Inter-House Sports, noting that Sports has many advantages including helping people achieve fitness, sound mind and friendships.

Jumbo, who is also the Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Kristina Reports, congratulated the winners of the competition and other houses that participated, urging them to put in more efforts to win better laurels inn the edition of the competition.

Earlier, the proprietor of the school, Lucy Jamaica had noted that organizing sporting events is capital intensive, appealing to well-meaning individuals and corporate organizations to partner with the school to deliver events that would showcase the budding talents of youngsters in Bonny LGA.

In a chat with Kristina Reports, one of the parents, Belgam Irimagha rated the competition high in terms of organization and delivery, but urged the management of the school to introduce other sports such as volleyball, badminton, basketball, and javelin, amongst others in the next edition.

On his part, another parent, Daniel James told Kristina Reports that the competition will serve to strengthen the bod between the children, their parents, and the teachers, noting that “the school has done well, likewise the children”, adding that for future events, the school should involve the State Ministry of Sports.
