Okrika-Borikiri Link Bridge Project Finally Kicks Off After 12-Year Delay, Residents Express Relief
After a harrowing delay that lasted 12 years, construction work on the Okrika-Borikiri Link Bridge has finally commenced with the demolition of properties on th project right of way.
Jubilation by the people of Okrika and Borikiri communities trailed the onset of the project, which was first scheduled to start in 2014.

Community Liaison Officer (CLO) of the project, Precious Tobin-George, confirmed to Kristina Reports that the project sponsor, the Niger Delta Developmeent Commission (NDDC) has released funding for the constractor to comence the project.
he further informed that the contractor, which he did not name, has equally mobilized human and materials resources to the project site three days ago, adding that residents received compensation and vacated the right of way within the 60 days deadline issued by NDDC.
“Nobody is complaining, they are compensated adequately… Everybody complied, so everybody is okay with it.”

He said the bridge linking Borokiri to Okrika will bring major economic benefits, pointin out that “you will see parks, a lot of businesses, modern houses, development, and reclamation of the shores”.
“This bridge will skyrocket the living and well-being of Okrika people. Once there is transport flowing here to Okrika, you will see that Okrika will develop, Port Harcourt will develop more.”
Contemplated and awarded since 2014, the commencement of the project was hartwarming to several stakeholders who confided in Kristina Reports their observations on the project.
