Long Search for Deputy Paramount Ruler Comes to an End, Aspirants Brace up for CDC Chairmanship, Youth Council Elections in Nonwa, Tai LGA

The leadership repositioning in Nonwa Tai Community recorded another significant milestone on Sunday, July 5, 2026, as the newly chosen Deputy Paramount Ruler, Clement Gote Nkpee, was formally presented to a delegated sub-committee of the Bara-Ghorobor Council of Chiefs, Elders and Youths Forum.

The strategic meeting was held at the residence of the Chairman of the Bara-Ghorobor Sub-Committee, Peace Nbara, following the directive of the entire administration of Nonwa Tai under the leadership of the Paramount Ruler, Chief Tomakara Castro Nyiedam, Amaabana VIII.

In a formal presentation, the Chairman of the leading house (Tor-Saalo), Clifford Nkpigi, officially introduced Chief Clement Gote Nkpee as the successful and chosen Warrant Chief (Mene Labuen) of Nonwa Tai Community to the Chairman of the Sub-Committee.

The presentation, which ends the long search for the Warrant Chief or deputy paramount ruler, formed part of the carefully coordinated leadership transition designed to strengthen unity, transparency, and continuity in community governance.

In a related development, the Forum also constituted a five-man screening committee to oversee the selection process for prospective leaders as part of preparations for the forthcoming CDC Chairmanship and Youth Council Elections scheduled for July 18, 2026.

The committee comprises:
Sunday Nkpigi – Chairman
Chief Barisuka Paul – Secretary
Lebgo Nkporo – Member
Stephen Nwakata – Member
Batambari Nkoroma – Member

Following its constitution, the committee chairman declared the floor open for all interested aspirants seeking elective positions within the Youth Council to publicly declare their intentions. Meanwhile, some aspirants have indicated interest in positions ceded to the Bara-Ghorobor clan ahead of the Youth Council elections.

The committee further announced that formal screening of all contenders would commence by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, ahead of the coming youth Council elections.

A key personality that graced the event as resource person is a former youth president of the community and immediate past Chairman of Tai LGA, Matthew Nenubari Dike (a.k.a. Mene Zaansi), who delivered a remarkable address.

He urged both the screening committee and all aspirants to uphold the long-standing values of peace, mutual respect, and responsible leadership for which Nonwa Tai is known, and emphasized that the ongoing leadership reset must remain anchored on unity, discipline, and service to the community.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the Bara-Ghorobor Forum to support a transparent and credible leadership process while preparing for the official elections, and coronation of the chosen Warrant Chief, Paramount Ruler, Chief Tomakara Castro Nyiedam, alongside the Council of Chiefs.

A successful gathering, it further reflects the community’s collective resolve to build an inclusive leadership structure that promotes peace, accountability, and sustainable development for the people of Nonwa Tai.
