Nonwa Tai Kingdom Debunks Allegations of Self-Imposition Against Its Paramount Ruler
Nonwa Tai Community has declared that its Mene Akaten-Buen (Paramount Ruler), Chief Tomakara Castro Nyiedam, did not at any time impose himself on the Nonwa royal stool or the people.
The Personal Assistant to the Mene Akaten-Buen, John Mbara, in a statement on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, debunked claims by one Shehu Kagbara, who accused Chief Nyiedam of self-imposition.

“We wish to formally address and correct the false and misleading allegations made by Mr. Shehu Arise Kagbara concerning our principal, Chief Tomakara Castro Nyiedam, Mene Akaten-Buen of Nonwa Tai Community,” the statement read.
Following the demise of the late monarch, His Royal Highness, Chief Emmanuel Nubue Nyiedam, Chief Tormakara Castro Nyiedam, was crowned on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 as the new traditional ruler of the community after the traditional rites for the coronation were conducted.
But barely days after his coronation, a major controversy engulfed the historic throne as one Shehu Kagbara, who claims to be the most suitable successor to the late Paramount Ruler, declared himself the Paramount Ruler.

He faulted the entire rigorous and ancient customary process enshrined in the oral tradition of Nonwa, which was undertaken in Chief Castro Nyiedam’s ascendancy to the throne.
Mbara emphasized that his principal has never at any point in time self-declared himself as paramount ruler, and he would never do such a thing, describing the allegations of Kagbara as a calculated and deliberate attempt to peddle misinformation and falsehood against the new ruler.
“In accordance with long-standing tradition, he was subsequently presented to the Amaabana Royal Dynasty and the Ga-gbe Royal House.”
“They will, in turn, formally present him to the Council of Chiefs and Elders, as well as the entire Nonwa Tai Community, upon the completion of the burial rites of the late king.”
This process is deeply rooted in the customs and traditions of our land and must be respected by all,” the statement continued.
In conclusion, the statement sternly warned Shehu Kagbara to desist from any act aimed at creating tension and confusion in the community, adding that further attempts would be attended with necessary legal actions.
“It also advised the Nonwa people and the general public to disregard the claims as they do not reflect the true position of events.”
“Finally, we wish to make it clear that any further defamatory statements or attempts to distort the truth by Shehu Arise Kagbara will be met with appropriate legal action.
He will be required to substantiate such claims in a court of law,” it concluded.
