PRESS STATEMENT

We, Chiefs and Heads of the Finima Community as comprised the Brown Major Chieftaincy House, the Attoni Chieftaincy House and the Tobin Chieftaincy House, having seen the Press Statement issued 11th May, 2022 by a purported body called Finima Capacity Development Committee (FCDC) against the Press Release by Bonny Kingdom Local Content Compliance Committee (BKLCCC) made 1 May, 2022, hereby state as follows:

1. Finima (as comprised the Brown, Attoni and Tobin Chieftaincy Houses) is and has been an integral part of the Bonny Kingdom from time under one Amanyanabo, at present, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, JP, CON, Perekule XI Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom.

• The Bonny Traditional Institution, and so properly referred the Amanyanabo of Bonny-in Council is the apex traditional institution of the Bonny Kingdom. The entire Chieftaincy Houses of the Bonny Kingdom making up the Bonny Local Government Area, are domiciled in several communities including Finima. Finima as a community is comprised of three independent and autonomous Chieftaincy House namely Brown, Attoni and Tobin Chieftaincy Houses.

• The Bonny Kingdom Local Content Compliance Committee, an agency of the Bonny Kingdom duly constituted of representative of a reasonable and cross section of our communities, including Finima Community, represents our people. It is duly constituted for the mutual benefits of all and the smooth beneficial activities of NLNG Train-7 projects.  

• Finima Community is not a one House Community. It is comprised of three Chieftaincy Houses (Brown, Attoni and Tobin) and no one house can constitute a committee of Finima Community without consultation and input from duly recognized leadership of the Chieftaincy Houses. The entire Finima Community components with Communal ownership vacated land in old Finima Community to be in present Finima land as one Community.

• The Finima Community as a unit within the Bonny Kingdom, Bonny Local Government Area has never met, discussed and agreed to constitute any body and or agent to be known and or referred to as Finima Capacity Development Committee (FCDC). Consequent upon the forgoing we vehemently disassociate ourselves from any such body so called. 

• We stand for progress, equity and fairness and we are satisfied with the transparent activities of the BKLCCC rather than the recalcitrant utterances and vehement vituperation of a non-existent, unrecognized body such as the FCDC or any such body whatsoever, and their human agents.

Long live Bonny Kingdom

Long live Bony Local Government Area

Long live Rivers State, Nigeria.
