The must-watch fixture is locked in for Monday, June 1, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Local fans are thrilled that the game will take place at the iconic Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The Akwa Ibom State Football Association Chairman, Mr. Samuel Umoh, praised the NFF’s choice, noting the intense rivalry between both teams after their recent tight race for the league title.

Enugu Rangers secured the league trophy on the very last day of the season after a tense 2-1 win against Ikorodu City in Lagos, finishing just a single point ahead of Rivers United.

State Government Upgrades Venue for Rivers United and Enugu Rangers Clash
While the NFF originally planned to hold the game at the Uyo Township Stadium, a swift intervention by the Akwa Ibom State Government upgraded the venue to the state’s crown jewel.
Both Enugu Rangers and Rivers United are highly familiar with the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, having used the world-class facility for their respective CAF continental campaigns in the past.
Expressing his deep gratitude to the football federation and the state leadership, Akwa Ibom FA Chairman Mr. Samuel Umoh stated:
“We are truly grateful to the Nigeria Football Federation for finding Uyo worthy to host this top-class President Federation Cup game involving the league champions Rangers International and runners-up Rivers United.
This is a major football fixture and one that fans across the country are looking forward to. The decision by the NFF once again shows the confidence they have in Akwa Ibom State’s ability to host major football matches successfully.”
Umoh also lauded the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, and the Sports Commissioner, Elder Paul Bassey, for making the elite stadium available, adding:
“I want to specially thank His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, for approving the use of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium for this prestigious game.
While the NFF initially assigned the Uyo Township Stadium for the match, the Akwa Ibom State Government, through the efforts of the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, ensured that the game will now be played at the best football facility in the country.

With thousands of fans expected to travel from across Nigeria to witness this heavyweight encounter, Umoh urged the public to fill the stands, saying:
“I want to call on all football stakeholders, supporters and fans to come out en masse and enjoy this massive encounter between the Nigerian league champions and the runners-up.
This is a big match that promises excitement, quality football and a great atmosphere. Uyo is ready to welcome both teams and football fans from across the country.”
