The array of capital and social impact projects commissioned, flagged off or unveiled to mark the one year anniversary in office of the incumbent Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Anengi Wilcox, in the past one week in Bonny attracted massive plaudits from various stakeholders at the weekend.

Prominent amongst these was the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Desmond Akawor, who applauded the developmental footprints of the current Bonny Local Government, saying that the PDP was proud of the harvest of projects and empowerment programmes being driven by the Chairman of Bonny LGA.

Speaking at the Phase Two of the Flag-Off of Projects and Empowerment Programmes at the Local Government Industrial Unit (LGIU) Field, Bonny, Akawor, who was represented by the State Party Secretary, Dr Benebo George, passed a vote of confidence on Dame Anengi Wilcox, encouraging her to sustain the tempo of touching lives at the grassroots which summarises what the PDP stands for, adding that the Bonny Local Government Housing Unit, which he earlier performed the groundbreaking ceremony for, was a bold step towards answering to the concerns of senior government officials for improved productivity in governance.

Flagging-off the Free School Buses, the Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Professor Chinedu Mmom, who had earlier laid the foundation for the construction of an administrative complex for the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC), said the LGA Boss had done well in encouraging primary education which is the most important aspect of schooling, adding that the free school buses will take-off the cost of transportation from parents, save the children from road hazards and stimulate the appetite for education in them.

In her remarks, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Anengi Wilcox, said the event was intended to highlight her scorecard in the last one year and hint at the activities of the Local Government in the next phase of the administration. She admitted that the government may not have completely attained the expectations of the people, but with the prayers, synergy, support, and contributions of all stakeholders, Bonny would become the tourism and investment capital of Nigeria in no distant time.
