Bonny Road Project: Stakeholder Gives Thumbs-Up for Quality Assurance, Design Specification Adherence

An indigene of Bonny Kingdom, Govern Hart has expressed satisfaction on the quality and extent of work done on the road expansion project being executed by Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL).

Hart, who is an engineer, told Kristina Reports in an interview that the project was progressing as expected, dismissing criticisms against the project, saying the work done, so far, indicate a clear adherence to design specification.

“From my first observation, when I got to the Coal Beach, when people were agitating, they were saying that the road was substandard.”

“No, I went there and saw what was happening. The thickness and the depth of the road is very, very, very okay. When I saw it, I know that they are working according to specification.”

“There is no engineering job that doesn’t have the specification from the drawing. It has specification and under that specification you definitely have the maximum load that is supposed to pass by this particular road.”

He also commended Evomec for creating a diversion that grants residents of the township axis access into the various communities, communes and quarters that comprise that area, pointing out that the aged, school children and other commuters will benefit from the diversion.

“Now, what we are talking about now is creating a diversion, a viable diversion, so that people will not suffer untold hardship.”

“This is within the town. This is the town axis. Coming up from town down to this side is a very difficult area. That is where most of the aged people live. You understand? And right now, we are having water shortage situation inside town.”

“People carry their buckets across this place down to Sandfield to go and fetch water. The situation will be more chaotic. Especially in front of my house is where they have turned to a major road.”

Recall that the Project Manager of the Bonny Road Expansion Project, Oboho Asanwana announced on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 that his company, Evomec had created a diversion from the King Asimini Bypass through the junction by former All States Trust Bank into Sandfield Road out to Amaomu Junction into Court Road and Cable Road.

He also applauded the project sponsor, the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), and implementer, Evomec, for not just delivering the project but assuring quality, timeliness and sustainability, saying “they are bequeathing Bonny people with a project that is worth the while”.
