Nigerian star Peter Itodo keeps Metalist alive with another decisive league goal
Peter Itodo continued his impressive run in the Ukrainian Premier League after scoring a vital equaliser to help Metalist 1925 secure a 2-2 draw against Karpaty in a dramatic Round 28 encounter.

The Nigerian striker once again delivered when his team needed him most, extending his strong scoring form with another important contribution for Metalist 1925.
Peter Itodo extends remarkable scoring streak for Metalist 1925
His latest goal ensured the hosts avoided defeat after surrendering an early lead in an entertaining contest.
Peter Itodo has now scored in consecutive league matches for Metalist 1925 and continues to establish himself as the club’s most reliable attacking player this season.
The 22-year-old has found the net seven times in his last eight league appearances, taking his tally to 10 league goals alongside one assist in 24 matches.
Across all competitions, the Nigerian forward has now recorded 16 goal contributions this campaign, including five goals in the Ukrainian Cup.
Despite the team’s struggles, the forward remains comfortably ahead as Metalist 1925’s leading scorer.
He currently sits six goals clear of Denys Antyukh and seven ahead of fellow Nigerian Christian Mba.
Itodo rescues Metalist again in thrilling Karpaty showdown
Metalist 1925 started brightly and took the lead shortly before halftime through Baton Zabërgja, who finished a well-worked move after being set up by Sebastián Castillo.

However, Karpaty responded strongly after the break. Ambrosiy Chachua equalised seven minutes into the second half before converting a penalty moments later to complete the turnaround for the visitors.
With Metalist facing another disappointing result, Peter Itodo stepped up once again. The Nigerian striker calmly converted Sebastián Castillo’s assist to level the score and restore hope for the home side.
Both teams continued to push for a winner, but neither could find the decisive goal in a lively second half filled with attacking football and momentum swings.
The result means Metalist have now gone five matches without a victory, recording four draws and one defeat during that run.
Still, Itodo’s consistent performances remain one of the few positives for the club as the season approaches its final stages.
Metalist will now turn attention to Saturday’s home fixture against Epitsentr Kamianets-Podilskyi as they look to return to winning ways and strengthen their position in sixth place with 47 points.
They will then conclude the campaign away to Veres Rivne.
