Bonny Road Expansion Project Hits 73% Completion, Remains Ahead of Schedule
BONNY, Rivers State — The Bonny Road Expansion (BRE) Project has crossed the 70 per cent completion threshold, with overall progress at 73 per cent and construction reportedly advancing ahead of schedule.
The project implementer, Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL), disclosed this on Monday, October 19, 2026 in response to an update enquiry by Kristina Reports.

The latest project update, provided through the BRE Project Manager, Oboho Asanwana, highlights substantial progress across key components, including the road linking Shell Gate to Coal Beach, which is nearing completion, and the relocation of utilities around the roundabout, which has been completed.
Drainage works along Road 1 (Shell Gate to Coal Beach Road) have progressed beyond 67 per cent, as construction continues on the roundabouts at Coal Beach, Berger and Amaomu.
The project’s spur section (Road 2) has recorded further progress, with pavement and drainage works each reaching 94 per cent completion, placing both components close to delivery.

Asanwana attributed the progress, so far, partly to effective stakeholder engagement, which has helped sustain construction activities despite interruptions and competing demands associated with cultural activities, particularly around the spur section.
On Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), the project has recorded more than 687,000 man-hours without a lost-time injury (LTI), reflecting its reported safety performance over the period.
on behalf of Evomec’s Chief Executive Officer, High Chief Peter Esievo, the BRE Project Manager expressed appreciation to Bonny Kingdom for its support and cooperation, describing stakeholder collaboration as important to the progress achieved so far.

He also assured the Kingdom and other stakeholders of the company’s commitment to delivering the project on schedule and to the required quality standards.
With overall completion at 73 per cent, the focus now remains on completing the outstanding road, drainage and roundabout works while sustaining safety standards and the cooperation of host communities.
For close watchers of the unfolding development, the latest progress update which places the project ahead of schedule, remains commendable, although they also hold that overall completion figure indicates that significant construction work remains before the road expansion can be declared fully completed.
