Two Imo Police Officers Die After Patrol Vehicle Crash
Two police officers attached to the Imo State Police Command have died following a road traffic accident involving a patrol vehicle conveying seven officers on official duty along the Amakalu–Umuelemma Road in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state.
The accident occurred on Monday, June 29, 2026, while the officers were carrying out official responsibilities.

The incident was made public in a statement issued on Thursday, July 2, by the Imo State Police Command through its Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye.
According to the statement, all seven officers sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crash and were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
However, two of the officers later died from injuries sustained in the accident, while the remaining five are receiving treatment.
Expressing grief over the incident, Imo State Commissioner of Police, Audu Bosso, described the loss as a painful moment for the command.
“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Audu Bosso, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road traffic accident involving seven personnel of the Command who were on official duty on June 29, 2026, along the Amakalu–Umuelemma Road in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State,” the statement read.
Bosso added, “Regrettably, two of the officers later succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical treatment, while the other injured personnel are currently undergoing treatment.”
The commissioner extended his condolences to the families of the deceased officers, assuring them that the command would continue to stand by them during the difficult period.
He also paid tribute to the fallen officers, saying, “Their dedication and sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered.”
The police command disclosed that Bosso had directed that the injured officers receive the best possible medical care while appropriate welfare support is extended to them and the families of the deceased.
The command further confirmed that a thorough investigation has commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
It, however, did not disclose the identities, ranks or states of origin of the deceased officers, and the cause of the crash had not been established as of the time the statement was issued.
