The development profile of Bonny Kingdom in Rivers State will move a notch higher this weekend as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) inaugurates a its Bonny Kingdom and District Society.
Onome Adewuyi, FCIB, FCA, who is the 56th President of ICAN will perform the inauguration ceremony of the new district society and investiture of its pioneer Chairman, Dr Samuel Ekong billed for Saturday, 15th May, 2021, at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.
The event is expected to attract dignitaries such as the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, David Irimagha, Managing Director of the Nigeria LNG, Tony Attah, Director General of the Bonny Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BOCCIMA), Constance Nwokejiobi, who is also the Chairman, ICAN Lagos and District Society, and Rector of the polytechnic, Professor Tamunoimim Abbey, among several others.
According to the itinerary of the programme exclusively made available to Kristina Reports by the organizers, the ICAN Bonny Kingdom and District Society, the chief host of the event is the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Grand Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King (Dr.) Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, Perekule XI.
The document further disclosed that the ICAN National President, Onome Adewuyi, alongside her entourage, upon arrival via the Finima Airstrip, Bonny, would pay a courtesy call on the Amanyanabo at the King Perekule Palace, Bonny on Friday, May 13, 2021.
Adewuyi and her entourage will also visit the Finima Nature Park, the oldest cathedral south of the Niger, the St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Bonny, amongst other tourist sites around the island.
The ICAN Bonny Kingdom and District Society inauguration is said to be the last official engagement of Dame Onome Adewuyi, FCIB, FCA, as the 56th President of ICAN, and also serve to deepen the fiscal responsibility, accountability and transparency drive of businesses in Bonny LGA.
The pioneer Chairman of the new district society, Dr Samuel Ekong comes with a daunting antecedent in the fiscal management sector with a bagful of qualifications such as a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, MBA in Production Management and Operations Research, M.Sc. in Economics, and B.Sc. in Accounting.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), certified information systems auditor (CISA), certified IT professional (ITIL), and currently a faculty member of the University of Port Harcourt Business School, Choba, Port Harcourt.
Dr. Ekong has garnered over three decades of professional experience spanning management consulting, aviation, academia and oil and gas, especially, at the Nigeria LNG Limited where he is currently Head, Finance Business Advisory to the Production Division.
In about two decades, he has performed various roles across almost all the value chain of the business, including Internal Auditor; Senior Management Accountant in Finance Division; Head, Management Information and Support in the production division; and Head, Finance Business Advisory to BGT and Commercial businesses.
