An aspirant who is vying for the Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives come the February 25, 2023 National Assembly polls on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Warisenibo Cyril Hart, has revealed why the PDP has sustained its track record of electoral victories in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State since the inception of the current democratic dispensation.

Warisenibo Hart, who was speaking during a Stakeholders Meeting of the PDP in Bonny on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, predicated the PDP’s string of electoral victories on the political sagacity and leadership acumen exhibited by the leader of the PDP in Bonny LGA, Rodaford Longjohn, asserting that the party would win a landslide in the 2023 general elections.

PDP House of Representatives aspirant, Cyril Hart (2nd left), flanked by the Vice Chairman, Omoni Longjohn (2nd right), Supervisor for Works, Edmund Fombo (right) and the Chairman, Bonny Kingdom Employment Monitoring Committee, Tamuno Dan-Jumbo (left), during the meeting.

Longjohn, a former two term Chairman of Bonny LGA, is the current Commissioner for Local Governments in the State.

“I am very confident that under the leadership of Rodaford Longjohn since 1998 way we start this business he has never lost election. PDP under Rodaford Longjohn has never lost any election. So, it will not be different in 2023, it will not. In fact, like he (Rodaford Longjohn) said, landslide victory awaits us.”

He further declared that Bonny and Degema LGAs of Rivers State were strongholds of the PDP, and with his candidature, especially, with the sterling credentials he parades, victory at the polls was a done deal for the ruling party in the State.

Warisenibo Hart, who was a Caretaker Committee Chairman of Bonny LGA for three months, stated that his credentials include being a loyal party man who kowtowed to the dictates of the party, a team player who consults widely before taking critical decisions, a performer, who delivered visible dividends of democracy during his three-month stint as Caretaker Committee Chairman of Bonny LGA, and a listener who defers to superior logic.

“Let me take us down memory lane, in 2015, those of you who were still members of the party then will remember that I came out to run for House of Assembly in 2015; this same leadership today said ‘Cyril, leave it for honorable Abinye Pepple’.

“If you recall, it was in this hall that we had the primaries. People taught I was angry, I walked in here on that fateful day to cast my vote for Abinye. After stepping down for him I moved forward to ensure that he won that election with resources committed to that cause. I did that because it was party’s decision.”

“When the party finally decided that I should be the consensus aspirant for that position, immediately I reached out to everyone who was aspiring for that position because you must be the bigger person at this point when they have decided it is you. I reached out to all of them and I must tell you the response I got from them was encouraging, especially, the one I got from Mrs. Frank-Hart.”

“I was given the privilege to be your Council Chairman for three months; in that three months it was a team work. If I leave the council secretariat to Port Harcourt for any activities by time I come Omoni (Longjohn) will present activities of what he has done and I approved expressly.”

Warisenibo Cyril Hart disclosed that though he was denied the party’s ticket in 2015, he spent the most to ensure the party won in the polls in that year’s election.

“I was denied that opportunity 2015 yet I committed the highest amount of money. I want to say it here now and it’s on record that I spent the most in 2015. I spent the most resources. I spent the most but they said ‘leave am’, I left it. If to say I do strong head them no for bring me as Caretaker Chairman, them no for carry me go UBE Board. So, it is the sequence of loyalty, it is 100%.”

He thanked the party stakeholders profusely for their invaluable support up to the point of screening and clearance to contest the primaries, appealing to them to give him and other candidates of the party the needed support to secure victory at the polls.

Vice Chairman, Bonny LGA, Omoni Longjohn
