He stated that the traders were grateful to the Bonny LG chief executive for her undying love, consistent support and zero tolerance for insecurity.

According to him, since they moved into the new market along King Asimini Bypass, there had been serenity within the market and its environs, adding that the area had been free of criminality.

The BMMTA Chairman said these accomplishments in the interest of the traders justified the prayers they were offering to God on her behalf for continual enablement upon her towards furthering her good works.

Remarking at the event, the Chairman of Bonny LGA commended the traders for complying with the regulations that guides the market, saying that this was part of why the market was flourishing.

She urged them to take their sanitation exercise more seriously towards ensuring the environment was clean at all times, while suing for increased support, prayers and faith in the government so that the good works that had been scattered around the LGA would continue.

The traders relocated from the old market site which had become deplorable over the years to the more befitting ultra-modern market after certain aesthetics added to it were completed and commissioned by the current local government under the watch of the incumbent Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Claude-Wilcox.

Though constructed by one of her predecessors, Edward Pepple, her late erstwhile boss and former Chairman of Bonny LGA, David Irimagha started the construction of an abattoir, security house, expansion of the perimeter fencing but could not complete it before his demise.

Claude-Wilcox completed all the amendments and add-ons, commissioned and directed that the traders relocate to the new site. Her administration also deployed security personnel to the market to ensure round-the-clock security for both traders and their patrons.

She has also continued to provide additional support to address emerging challenges since the traders relocated there, as well as construct a parking lot both within and outside the market for car owners to utilize while they do their shopping.
