The peace and tranquility of Bonny Island in Rivers State, Nigeria were disrupted in the evening of Sunday, 11th July, 2021 when news broke that gunmen have abducted two Bonny men from an event centre in Bonny Island and taken them away through a creek.

  1. We condemn in the strongest terms, this brazen invasion of the Island by persons who may have conclude that Bonny is a field for trophy hunters.
  • Much as this has become one abduction too many, in recent times, we call to mind that the whereabouts of the Banigo five are still shrouded in mystery ten months after, inspite of the various combined efforts by all conceivable authorities, individuals and organizations to secure their release.
  • The Titled Citizens Assembly (TCA), like all responsible body of reasonable disposition to public, development and progress view these security breaches to individual personal safety and freedom as affronts to the resilience of our people and challenge to the professional responses to the different and collective security agencies in Bonny Local Government Area.
  • We, therefore, urge the abductors of Amaoopusenibo Dennis Ezekiel-Hart and Mr. Maclean Adote to release them unconditionally. Bonny Kingdom did no wrong by being hospitable and accommodating to all persons of different faith, race, tribe, ethnicity and nationality.
  • Similarly, we call on the security agencies not to be deterred but act swiftly to save the lives of the victims and effect their release from captivity.
  • We encourage the security agencies to double up ahead in strategy to restore confidence in the residents and visitors alike. Such controls would obviously be seen in the successful preemptive actions to forestall future occurrences.
  • It is important that parents warn their children and wards of the dire consequences of involvement in crime and criminality.
