SIAT Nigeria Limited says it is poised on strengthening its relationship with the Media Community with a view to fostering ongoing goodwill with media practitioners.

In furtherance of this, the company on Thursday, May 11, 2023 presented some furniture items including chairs and tables to the Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

L-R Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, Stanley Job; and the Public Relations Officer, SIAT Nigeria Limited, Lucky Wejeh, during the meet.

Public Relations Manager of the company, Lucky Wejeh, who made the presentation on behalf of his company at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, said “I sure hope that this will strengthen the good relationship we already have”.

According to him, the seats will help the leaders of the Union to optimize their jobs, increase productivity and also strengthen their relationship.

“I visited here with my chief operating officer, we went upstairs and we saw the nature of the seats. So, they need changing. So, we went down and wrote that letter. By the grace of God, management graciously approved as was requested.”

“So, we are here this afternoon to present the chairs as requested and it is our belief and hope that there has been a long-standing relationship with the Nigerian Union of Journalists, not today, from RisonPalm and NASIAP Nigeria Limited. So, we hope that this will strengthen the good relationship we already have.”

“The Chairman, I have known him even when he was not the Chairman of NUJ. We have come of age. So, I think that with this gesture, it will assist him with his work; himself and his Secretary, and also strengthen the relationship we have before now.”

Reacting to the donation, Chairman of the NUJ Rivers State Council, Stanley Job expressed gratitude for the kind gesture and swift response towards his Union, saying the NUJ is a non-profit organization and thrives on contributions of its members and donations such as this.

“It never took you time. We just made a request and without perhaps, asking if we do this, what are you going to directly benefit from us or what you are going to do for us. You never asked those questions. Rather, you went ahead to grant what we requested from you. We are most grateful.”

“You know the NUJ is not a profit making organization; we survive from contributions, check-off dues and professional dues from members which is very meagre compared to one or two things we needed to do here and that is why we made that request. We saw that it is a responsibility that is difficult for us to fulfil and that is why we ran to you.”

“We are most grateful that you have helped us to do them. We appreciate you and we send our greetings and felicitation to your management. We are most grateful for what you have done for us and we can tell you that people will continue to project you that you are doing well.”

He also commended the present management of SIAT Nigeria Limited for its style of leadership that has not only transformed the company into a profit making business but also served in relieving youths from job searches by employing them.

“When the company was under RisonPalm, it wasn’t functioning the way it is functioning now. You have employed thousands of Rivers people; you know you have relieved a lot of our youths by reviving the company and the company making headways. So, I urge you to continue to partner with us.”

He urged other companies in the State to do same, while charging the government to look into some companies in the State and revive them, adding that some high profile individuals in the State should also diversify in other to engage more youths.

“I will urge other companies to do the same and also urge government to look into those of the companies that have gone more ribbon; some Rivers owned companies. They can revive them. They are all there in Trans Amadi.”

“These companies can engage; not everybody will work in government. The space in government is very limited but when you revive all these companies, it will take more youths looking for work.”
