Nigerian Midfield Engine Regina Otu Reacts to Historic League Title Win with Fenerbahçe
Super Falcons midfielder Regina Otu has taken to social media to celebrate a historic milestone after guiding Fenerbahçe to their first-ever Turkish Women’s Football Super League title.
The Nigerian international, who served as the anchor of the team’s midfield dominance all season, expressed her immense joy and gratitude during the official trophy presentation at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex.
A Proud Moment for the Super Falcons Star
In an emotional post on her official Instagram page, the former Rivers Angels midfielder shared photos of herself proudly hoisting the league trophy.
“This club means so much to me; I will always be grateful for the privilege of wearing this shirt,” Otu captioned.
Her post quickly triggered a wave of congratulations from Nigerian football fans and national teammates alike, celebrating yet another major success story for Nigerian players in European football.
Otu’s brilliant individual campaign was central to Fenerbahçe’s absolute dominance in the league this season.
Operating as the team’s defensive shield, she helped the Istanbul giants achieve a staggering defensive record—conceding just 8 goals across the entire campaign while racking up 26 victories.
Beyond her defensive masterclasses, Otu etched her name into the club’s history books back in March when she scored against Amed SK, netting Fenerbahçe’s 100th league goal of the season.
A Nigerian-Powered Title Charge
It was a truly Nigerian-fueled championship run, as Otu’s compatriot and fellow Super Falcons star, Flourish Sabastine, also enjoyed a stellar debut campaign, contributing 12 goals to the title charge.
With the domestic trophy secured, Regina Otu and her teammates have officially booked their ticket to next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.
For the 24-year-old Nigerian, this landmark victory marks her first major piece of silverware since moving to Europe, capping off an incredibly dominant year.
