The 24-year-old Nigerian joined the Slovenian side last summer and quickly became an important figure in the team.
His title success comes shortly after helping the Super Eagles lift the 2025 Unity Cup in England, continuing an impressive rise for the former NPFL star.
Despite suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to second-placed Koper, NK Celje still secured the Slovenian league crown thanks to their strong advantage at the top of the table.
Papa Daniel played the full match at Stadion Z’dežele, although Celje could not avoid a second straight defeat.
However, their overall consistency throughout the season proved enough to seal the championship.
Celje finished the campaign with 71 points from 33 league matches after recording 22 wins, five draws, and six defeats.
The title marks a huge milestone for the club and for Papa Daniel, who is celebrating his first major trophy in European football.
Super Eagles Midfielder Delivers Impressive Debut Season
Daniel enjoyed a solid debut season with NK Celje across domestic and European competitions. The midfielder made 30 appearances in all competitions during the campaign.
He featured in 20 league games, played twice in the Slovenian Cup, and also made eight appearances in the UEFA Conference League.
His performances in midfield helped Celje maintain consistency during their title-winning run.
The former Niger Tornadoes player has continued to show steady progress since moving abroad. His strong displays for club and country have also increased attention around his future.
