Given that safety is at the core of human existence and when practiced properly, lives are preserved, health is enhanced and society is stabilized, individuals and corporate bodies need to prioritize it in both domestic and industrial environments.

This was the message of the Bonny Graduates Forum (BGF) as it flagged off activities marking its Silver Jubilee Anniversary.

In a chat with Kristina Reports, President of BGF, Samuel Awoiyeala Allison said safety was paramount to everything else humans do and must be at the centre of activities in homes and work environments.

He posited that this was the motivation behind the painting of Zebra Crossings around public schools in Bonny and Finima, both in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, by the forum on Friday and Saturday, February 21 and 22, 2020.

The BGF President, who was accompanied on the exercise by members of the forum, emphasized the need for motorists to observe the Zebra Crossings around the various schools to safeguard the lives of school children and their teachers who might be crossing to their schools or returning after close of schools in the afternoon.

“Our motorists, both drivers of vehicles and motorcyclists, should please observe the Zebra Crossing. We need to safeguard the lives of pedestrians, especially, school children and their teachers as they cross to school or are leaving for home after school.”

Allison, who is an engineer, stated that BGF had come a long way in creating the right environment for graduates of Bonny LGA to pursue their career aspirations in diverse areas, stressing that it remained the destination of choice for sourcing qualified professionals in the area in its 25 years of existence.

He further disclosed that aside sourcing for career opportunities for graduates of Bonny extraction, it has over the years engaged in social impact programmes and initiatives that have positively impacted the community in diverse ways.

He called on stakeholders in the forthcoming train 7 project of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited to synergize with it in sourcing for and deploying core and competent professionals in the different roles in the project, saying that it was supportive of the efforts of various multinationals in the area to succeed at the projects they embark and pursuit of their economic advancements.
