Born on June 11, 2007, in Heilbronn, Germany, Chigozie began his football journey in Hoffenheim’s academy before completing a move to Bayer Leverkusen in 2024.

During his time with the German champions, he represented both the Under-17 and Under-19 teams while also featuring in eight UEFA Youth League matches.

Chigozie’s rapid development also earned him opportunities with Germany’s Under-17 and Under-19 national teams.

Last season, he was included in Bayer Leverkusen’s senior matchday squad against SC Freiburg and trained regularly with the club’s first team.

Despite attracting interest from several clubs, the promising forward opted to continue his development in the Netherlands after being convinced by FC Utrecht’s long-term vision.

“The first time I came here, it immediately felt like a warm welcome,” Chigozie told the club’s media channels.

“I think I am strong on the ball and can contribute physically. I am creative and enjoy creating chances, providing assists and scoring goals.”

Focused on development and regular football

Looking ahead to his new challenge, Chigozie said his immediate priority is adapting quickly to his new surroundings while continuing his progress as a player.
