Residents told Kristina Reports that the deceased allegedly worked for a man identified as Chimuanya of Umuobasi Kindred, who they accused of dealing in illicit drugs, but Kristina Reports has not independently verified that allegation.

According to eyewitnesses, the violence allegedly began after a disagreement over ₦9,000 said to be proceeds from an illegal drug transaction.

A witness, who requested anonymity for security reasons, claimed that Oluchukwu was first attacked and stabbed during the late hours of Friday, July 3.

The witness further alleged that the suspect encountered him again in the early hours of Saturday and stabbed him repeatedly, leaving him with fatal injuries.

“He accused the boy of taking his money.”

“We heard they had issues over ₦9,000.”

“He stabbed him at night and later attacked him again this morning.”

” Before help could come, the boy died,” the witness said.

The killing sparked outrage across the community as youths reportedly mobilised and set ablaze a shuttle bus and a family house said by residents to belong to the suspect.

Videos seen by Kristina Reports showed thick smoke rising from a burning building while residents gathered around the scene amid tension.

As of the time of filing this report, the situation in parts of Amaraku remained tense, while residents called for the immediate intervention of security agencies to prevent further violence.

The Imo State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident, and Kristina Reports could not independently verify the allegations made by witnesses or establish whether any arrest had been made.
