At least two persons are reportedly dead following a fierce attack on Uegwere-Boue, a community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, which borders Yeghe community in the neighboring Gokana Local Government Area. Both communities are known for their long-standing communal conflict relating to land dispute.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary of Uegwere Council of Chiefs and Elders, David Ideele, the community blamed the dastardly act on suspected gunmen from Yeghe community, accusing them of intermittently carrying out repeated attacks on Boue people and their farmlands.

The source confirmed that the incident occurred on Thursday, May 28, 2026 in which gunmen reportedly invaded the area, killing two persons and abducting other three. The fatalities have been identified as Lekia Inamene and Dumlebabari Saghanee, while those abducted are Lekara Booh, Meesua Deekae, and Ferewa Nu-ue.
One victim is reported to have sustained a high degree of injury during the attack and is currently receiving medical attention.

Ideele further alleged that the attacks have become a deliberate pattern, claiming that the gunmen frequently invade their farms, loot crops, harass women, abduct residents and kill innocent members of Uegwere community.
He said the situation has now created fear and tension within the community, forcing many residents to abandon their farms and depriving them of their source of livelihood.
The statement accordingly appealed to the Rivers State Government, security agencies and the Khana Local Government Council to urgently intervene and protect lives and property in the community.
“We cannot continue to live under fear and constant attacks. Government and security agencies should urgently come to our aid before the situation gets worse,” the statement pleaded.

The Police has since been contacted with the Divisional Police Officer of Bori Area Command, Kenneth Dimkpa, confirming the incident and assuring residents that his men have been deployed to the area in order to restore peace and order.
Dimkpa, consequently, advised residents against taking the law into their hands or engaging in any form of reprisal attack, while assuring both communities of unbiased treatment while investigations are ongoing.
