Ogbuku Installed as Ayakoro Daufa VI, Promises Unity, Progress
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has been formally installed as the Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, assuming the traditional title of Daufa VI.
His installation took place on Sunday, June 14, 2026, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the ancient riverine community.
Dr. Ogbuku’s emergence followed the constitutional succession process of the Ayakoro Community, which provides that the Deputy Paramount Ruler automatically ascends the throne upon a vacancy.
The transition came about six months after the passing of the former Paramount Ruler, His Royal Highness King Righteous Inegbagha, who died on September 5, 2025, and was laid to rest during the weekend of December 13 and 14, 2025.
The succession process was supervised by officials of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The exercise also produced Micha Itekesi as the new Deputy Paramount Ruler of the Ayakoro Community.
For residents and stakeholders, the emergence of Dr. Ogbuku represents continuity and renewed hope for development in the community.
They described him as a leader whose years of service, commitment, and contributions to community development have earned him respect within and outside Ayakoro Kingdom.
Speaking shortly after his installation, the new monarch described his elevation as a profound honour and a call to greater responsibility.
According to him, the confidence reposed in him by the people reflects their appreciation for sustained sacrifice and service to the community.
“The gesture by the people of Ayakoro is a reflection of their appreciation for years of sacrifice, dedication and unwavering commitment to the progress and wellbeing of the community.”
He added that his emergence serves as a reminder that selfless service and genuine concern for humanity are never forgotten.
Dr. Ogbuku pledged to discharge his duties with humility, integrity, and commitment to the collective aspirations of the people.
He assured that his reign would be focused on peace, unity, dignity, and sustainable development.
“May God grant us wisdom, patience, courage and clarity. We pray that our reign will bring peace, unity, dignity and greater progress to Ayakoro Community,” he declared.
The newly installed Daufa VI also expressed gratitude to the people for the trust placed in him, promising to work with all stakeholders to strengthen unity and development across the community.
Since his emergence, goodwill messages have continued to pour in from indigenes and admirers who believe his administrative experience will positively impact the fortunes of Ayakoro Community.
With the installation of Daufa VI, Ayakoro Community is expected to enter a new phase anchored on peace, unity, and shared prosperity.
