NSCDC Deploys Tactical Teams Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir in Rivers

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, has deployed specialised and tactical teams across the state to strengthen security ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The deployment follows a strategic management briefing convened on Tuesday May 26, 2026 by the State Commandant, Joachim Okafor, at the Command’s headquarters.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ihemnacho Umeado, personnel have been stationed at identified black spots and potential flashpoints, including recreational centres, Eid prayer grounds, major road intersections, markets, and motor parks, to ensure a peaceful celebration.

Umeado stated that commandant Okafor also directed the Anti-Vandal Unit to intensify patrols and surveillance around critical national assets and infrastructure such as telecommunications facilities, power installations, and oil and gas pipelines.

He reassured residents of the Corps’ readiness, alongside other security agencies, to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the festivities.

The Commandant further warned that the Corps would take decisive action against individuals or groups seeking to exploit the period to carry out criminal activities.

Okafor appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the nearest security post for prompt intervention.

He also extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to the Muslim faithful, urging them to celebrate peacefully and in accordance with the law.
