Nigerian Navy, Bonny LG Renew Synergy on Security, Protecting Maritime Environment

The Nigerian Navy and the Bonny Local Government have renewed their collaborative synergy to address immediate and remote causes of insecurity in the Nigerian Maritime Environment, especially, the waterways around Bonny LGA.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Bonny LGA Chairman on Media and Publicity, Sotonye Longjohn, disclosed that the Chief Executives of both institutions; Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Barasua, and the Commanding Officer, Forward Operating Base (FOB) of the Nigerian Navy, Capt. Mohammed Adamu reiterated this position on Friday, December 16, 2022 at FOB Bonny.

The occasion was the End-of-Year Dinner organized by the FOB NN Bonny for its officers and ratings and friends in the community held at the Officer Mess at its base in Bonny.  

Dame Barasua commended the FOB NN Bonny for its far-reaching role in sync with the policy thrust of her administration “in ensuring that the Island took flight from what it used to be with the waterways now a safe haven for travellers and other economic activities”.

She expressed delight with the harmonious working relationship with critical stakeholders in Bonny LGA, especially the security agencies which the Navy was a key component of, asserting hopes of a more robust synergy in 2023.

In his remarks, Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Bonny, Capt. Mohammed Adamu conveyed the compliments of his officers and ratings to the Bonny LGA Chairman and her entourage, noting that the successes recorded in the area of security was outcome of mutual efforts by the government and relevant agencies.

He pledged that the collaboration with the LGA and the Nigerian Navy as well as sister security agencies would be sustained in the course of discharging their constitutional duties, which he stated includes the overwatch of the Bonny territorial waters and beyond.
