Lucille Education Centre scored 50 points to defeat Kings and Queens High School, Abalamabie, which recorded 48 points. Ibitamuno Secondary School finished third with 46 points.
The competition involved eight secondary schools in Bonny and focused on stimulating interest in Mathematics and the sciences.

The NLNG Science Quiz Triumph: A Defining Moment
Perhaps one of Lucille’s most celebrated academic accomplishments came in 2021, when it emerged winner of the pilot edition of the NLNG Science Quiz Competition held in Bonny.
The competition attracted 248 students from more than 20 secondary schools on the island, with the preliminary Olympiad stage conducted on July 24, 2021, before the grand finale on July 31.
Lucille’s representatives — Sylvia Dabota Simon-Hart, Valerie Ibinye Eno and Ovo Oghene Okome — delivered the performance that secured the institution the championship.
The school recorded 720 points in the final, edging Faith Academy Secondary School, which finished as first runner-up with 715 points. Legacy International College, Finima, placed third.
Beyond the trophy, the victory brought substantial educational rewards. Lucille received science laboratory equipment valued at ₦1.5 million, science textbooks worth more than ₦500,000 and the competition trophy. The participating students also received laptops, a sponsored coding programme and other prizes.
The competition’s use of computer-based testing and digital quiz technology also placed emphasis on the importance of preparing students for an increasingly technology-driven world.

In December 2021, two of its students, Nelson Bluejack and Ivana Edun, emerged King and Queen of Mathematics respectively at the annual competition organised by G30 Ibani Voice.
Bluejack, a Senior Secondary II student, won the senior category, while Edun claimed the junior category crown.
Their accomplishments came with substantial rewards: Bluejack received ₦1 million, while Edun received ₦500,000. Both were also awarded scholarships for first-degree studies at public universities in Nigeria, alongside other prizes.
The school’s success extended beyond its students. Its principal, Esau Enyinnaya, received the Principal of the Year Award, while Lucille was named Best Secondary School of the Year.
The double victory was a remarkable moment for the institution, as it demonstrated strength in both junior and senior categories of the same competition.
Another Mathematics Crown in 2023
The school’s Mathematics achievements continued into the 2022/2023 edition of the contest, when Miss Ivan Jumbo emerged Queen of Mathematics.
She won the ₦1 million grand prize after beating contestants from other schools, including Bonny National Grammar School and Ibitamuno Group of Schools.
At the same event, Principal Esau Enyinnaya was recognised with an award for outstanding performance in Bonny Kingdom.
