From the Coal Beach in Ward 1 to Jumbo Abalamabie in Ward 6 in Bonny Local Government Area, several legacy projects are set for commissioning this weekend as the Bonny Local Government Council marks the One Year Anniversary of its Chief Executive, Dame Anengi Wilcox.
A statement signed by the Vice Chairman of Bonny LGA and Chairman, Central Planning Committee of the One Year Anniversary Celebration, Wariopusenibo Omoni Longjohn, announced that the projects billed for commissioning on Saturday, October 22, 2022 include the newly constructed Abraham-Hart Motorable Bridge, Abalamabie; newly constructed Bishop Gabriel Pepple Road; and the reconstructed and furnished Customary Court Complex at Court Road, Bonny.
According to the Bonny LG council, these projects are people-oriented projects aimed at improving mobility at critical areas in Bonny LGA, immortalize the memory of the fifth Bishop of the Niger Delta Diocese of the Anglican Church, late Rt. Reverend Gabriel Okomiema Herbert Jack-Wilson Pepple, JP, and also enhance judicial services to the people of Bonny LGA, especially, with regards to jurisprudence in native customs and traditions.
Dame Anengi Wilcox, a native of Greens Iwoama Community, seasoned financial services professional and astute entrepreneur, was sworn into office as the Executive Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, the first woman to be so elevated, by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Port Harcourt.
Expected in Bonny to perform the commissioning of these projects are the Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, Emeka Woke, Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bonny LGA, Dr Rodaford Longjohn, the State Commissioner for Sports, Christopher Green, and a former State Commissioner for Transport, George Tolofari, amongst others.
Checks by Kristina Reports indicate that expectations are high across the island LGA with the said projects already completed and awaiting commissioning, just as some residents told Kristina Reports that they expect these to be the launchpad for more sustainable projects in the days to come, asserting that the capacity of the incumbent Bonny LGA Chairman to deliver on her governance mandate had never been in doubt.
Commendable and more grace to her able.
We have a strong woman as our chairman and she will leave no stone unturned as she makes one year in office
May God Almighty help her and increase her in knowledge an wisdom to pilot the affairs our our great LGA
