Legacy of Founding Fathers Won’t Be Destroyed By Greed – Jumbo Major House

Greed will not be allowed to destroy the admirable legacies left behind by the founding fathers of the Jumbo Major House of Grand Bonny Kingdom, instead members of the House have been called upon to avail themselves to be used by God to attract development and sustain peace in the House.

Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Jumbo Major House stated this during the inauguration of six committees to manage critical issues affecting the House on Thursday, August 26, 2021 in Bonny, Rivers State.

The committees include Infrastructure Committee, Land Recovery Committee, Opuwari Building (Investigation) Committee, Gig Committee, Aruwari Building Committee, and Owu Ogbo Cultural Committee.  

“We are grateful to our forebears who left the resources we are now enjoying; they did not mismanage it, they were not greedy. They had us in mind. Now, it is our responsibility to restore these resources for future generations. We cannot afford to fail.”  

“Jumbo Major House belongs to all of us and every member has a responsibility to contribute positively to the development of the House. Therefore, we urge you to cooperate and join hands with us to put Jumbo Major House in its rightful place.”

He praised the Chairman of one of the committees, the Owu Ogbo Cultural Committee, Wari-Alabo Michael Orumbie for a successful outing of the House during the current Fungu Mini (Summer Festival) in Bonny Kingdom, noting that the members of the various committees were carefully selected, expressing confidence in their capacity to tackle the challenges facing the House.

“The Owu Ogbo Cultural Committee has already taken off, they have just had their Fungu Mini outing, and it was a huge success; we thank the Chairman, Wari-Alabo Michael Orumbie, and his team for the successful outing.”

“These committees will look into the various challenges facing the house and come w up with their reports. Members of these committees were carefully selected. We believe they have the capacity to deliver on their assignment.”

The acting Chairman of the Jumbo Major House reiterated the resolve of the Council of Elders under his leadership to reposition the House and put it on the path of progress and development, adding that the current phase will focus on infrastructural development and sustainable projects.

“This is the second phase of our programme. The first phase was the disbursement of money to our people through their family units (Burusu), communities, clubs, etc. Now, we are focusing on projects and infrastructure that is necessary to reposition our House.”

In attendance at the event were the Secretary of the Elders’ Council, Kalada Jene, Auditor, Edmund Jumbo, and members including Blessby Jumbo, Adawari Josiah Jumbo, Mieadonye Jumbo, Jason Tumini Jumbo, Kenneth Jumbo, Michael Orumbie, Eric Jumbo, James Apiafi Jumbo, Emmanuel Oko-Jumbo, Benedict Ibani Jumbo, Ashley Ibiowugha Jumbo, Gentle Dan-Jumbo, Sunny Tamuniibi Jumbo, Charles Tonyeibi, Robert Jumbo, Fidelis Jumbo, and Sobere Jumbo, titled citizens, Woman Leader of the House, Elfrida Jumbo, Chairman of the Ogbobiri Asawo, Eugene John-Jumbo, President of the Youth Governors Forum of the Jumbo Major House Youth Association, Idanye Sylvester, among others.
