IWD: Bonny Kingdom Celebrates, Inspires Women Inclusion in Governance, Other Areas – BKDC

As the global community marks the 2024 International Women’s Day, the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee under the leadership of Amaopusenibo Amairigha Hart has felicitated with women, saying they will always be celebrated in Bonny Kingdom.

Amaopusenibo Hart stated this in a commemorative statement signed by the Secretary of the Committee, Daddy Dappa, PhD, and made exclusively available to Kristina Reports in Bonny, Rivers State.

He averred that Bonny Kingdom prides itself as a progressive community which allows for women to be part of the governing process, which he said is not far-fetched as the Chairman of Local Government Area, Dame Anengi Claude-Wilcox, is celebrated as “a woman of impeccable character”.

He posited that the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee identifies with the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day, “Inspire Inclusion”, which accentuates the sub theme: “Investing in a Woman; Accelerates Progress”, assuring that women in Bonny Kingdom of continuous support and investment in their welfare.

The Committee expressed its appreciation to the founder of the International Women’s Day, Clara Zetkin, whose innovation has now become “a stepping stone towards the development and fulfillment of the dreams of women all around the world”.

The BKDC Chairman explained the symbolism of the colour green, describing it as a symbol of hope in addition to the colour of the International Women’s Day which is purple shows the hope in the growth and development of women.

The Committee offered prayers for mothers and all the women in Bonny Kingdom and beyond for fruitfulness in their endeavours and viability in their investments and opportunities.

The Bonny Kingdom Development Committee has over the years been working to improving the standard of living in Bonny Kingdom, as well as coordinating development outreaches to ensure that residents of Bonny Island, especially women, have the best of opportunities and access to information and training necessary to grow as individuals and as a community, at large.
