Hottest Man on the Block, Victor Osimhen, Wins Big at Ghana Football Awards

Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has won the Best African International Player at the Ghana Football Awards held in the Accra International Conference Centre on Sunday.

The prolific striker beat Algerian, Treble winner, Riyad Mahrez, Liverpool and Egypt frontman, Mohammed Salah, and Morocco/Sevilla goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou to win the fifth edition of the Award.

The 24-year-old finished as the top scorer with 26 goals in the Italian Serie A last season and was named the Best Striker, leading his side to win their first scudetto in 33 years. (1989-1990 season)

Osimhen in his most recent match against Sierra Leone netted twice to pick a 2023 AFCON spot for the Super Eagles.

Osimhen became the first African player to claim the Golden Boot award in the Italian Serie A and the first player to combine the achievement with the Scudetto since 2009.

Osimhen is one of the hottest strikers in the ongoing transfer window with top English sides Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea in hot pursuit and French outfit PSG, all vying for his signature.

The star recently touched down Lagos, Nigeria in a bid to connect with his roots and show appreciation.

He said this on Friday via his official Twitter handle:

“Returning to where my football dream and journey began in Olusosun gives me so much goosebumps. I am humbled and grateful for the roots that shaped my dreams. This is me once again appreciating their love and support and i will always cherish Olusosun and its people. Thank You! ❤️”
