Glory of BVC Etched on Thriving Partnership – NLNG

That the Bonny Vocational Centre (BVC) is today a value adding, knowledge vending and skills emplacement institution that has continued to churn out graduands in different professional sectors is a product of thriving partnership between the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), the Rivers State Government and its host, Bonny Kingdom.

This position was advanced by NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Andy Odeh on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the 11th Graduation Ceremony of BVC in Bonny, Rivers State.

Odeh referenced the ongoing benefits BVC has accrued to the industrial environment in Bonny Island, economy of Rivers State and Nigeria, noting that the relationship between NLNG and BVC is symbiotic and “something everyone is proud of”.

He congratulated the graduands on their achievement, urging them to focus on continuous career development trajectory and also reflect on the opportunity that BVC represents for them, asserting that “you are in the league of the privileged”, counseling them to avoid actions that would demean the invaluable training they have received.  

In his address, the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Dr Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, who praised the NLNG for being “a very fantastic and reliable partner”, expressed appreciation to the various stakeholders who worked assiduously to ensure the establishment of the Bonny Vocational Centre (BVC), saying that their efforts made BVC the success story that it is today.

The King, who was represented by the Vice Chairman of the Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC), Se-Alabo Hanniel Jack-Wilson Pepple, asserted that “BVC has come to stay”, stressing that “BVC is a good product because it is a product of good thinking”, commending the Management and staff of BVC for a job well done.

In her Goodwill Message, the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Barasua applauded the stakeholders for the success of BVC, declaring that Bonny Island was conducive for attaining excellence in diverse fields of endeavor, assuring that her administration was doing all within its power to ensure a secure environment for all to thrive.

Represented by her Executive Assistant on Finance, Warisenibo Tamunoipiriala Jumbo, the Bonny LGA boss lauded the vision and efforts on the part of the NLNG that birthed the BVC, noting that it has impacted on the skills development quotient of the Island, urging the company to more.

Acting Director of the Bonny Vocational Centre (BVC), Micah Ibiama announced that a total of 228 students were graduated from the institution having undergone training in Business Support, Electrical and Electronics Technology, Fabrication and Welding, Hospitality and Catering, ICT Systems Support, Mechanical Maintenance Technology, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, informing that this number sums up to 922 graduands that the BVC has churned out since its inception.  

On their part, others speakers including the Construction Director, SCD JV (Saipem, Chiyoda and Daewoo Joint Venture), Francesco Florini; NLNG’s General Manager, Production, Adeleye Falade, represented by the Manager, Operations, Goke Korede; General Manager, Human Resources, Terhemba Makeri, represented by Okechukwu Nwagu; Train 7 Project Director represented by Joshua Anamaeje; Chairman, BVC Board of Trustees (BOT), Se-Alabo Dagogo Ada-Allison, represented by a BOT member, Morgan Brown; and Chairman, Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC), Louis Banigo Jr. commended the NLNG and BVC for the success the Centre has recorded.
