The serene community of Finima in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State rose to accord last respects to the stepmother of the Amadabo of Finima, Late Mrs. Nwafo Nyeigbarima Grace Lambert Brown as she was laid to rest.
The Mrs. Brown, who was born on Saturday, July 10, 1954 passed on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the age of 70 years, during her lifetime was an epitome of feminine grace, godly candour and an all-embracing mien.
Born into the Njoku Royal Family of Umuosi Ntigha Autonomous Community in Isiala Ngwa Eziama Local Government Area of Abia State as the first daughter, Mrs. Nyeigbarima Grace Lambert Brown was a prominent figure in her community and remained actively involved in its development until her passing.
Delivering his homily at a funeral service in her honour held at the Covenant Prevailing Church, Zone 1, Finima on Saturday, July 13, 2024, the official minister, Apostle O.G. Simeon harped on her commitment to community issues, participation in social functions and devout posture towards the things of God during her lifetime.
In a eulogy on behalf of the family, her eldest son, Idatonye Lambert Brown expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the graceful life of their demised mother, stating that her virtues, values and valiant affront to life issues remain the pillars of inspiration for him and his siblings.
Brown, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Elam Integrated Services Limited, further expressed gratitude to the various families, relations, churches, social clubs, friends, and well-wishers who stood by them during the trying time.
“Words are inadequate to express our gratitude to each and every one of you for your prayers, encouragement, and support towards making the burial of our beloved mother a success. May the good Lord bless you all and grant you journey mercies back to your various destinations.”
During the funeral obsequies, which had in attendance her extended family members, friends, acquaintances of diverse circumstances who gathered to honor her memory, various dignitaries, friends, family members, and organizations took turns to pour encomiums and tributes on her.
Among the groups that joined in the litany of eulogies in honour of the demised feminine icon were Omuso Belema-Ere, Unique Sisters and Brothers Social Club, where she was Vice President until her passing, Finima Women Association (FIWA), Buoye Omuso Belema-Eremapu of Finima Association, where she was Advisor until her passing, and Fishing Women Association.
Others were Royal Comrades of Grand Bonny Association, Pa Jim Amachree Family of Finima, Finima Widows Cooperative, Omuso Kuro Asaawo Social Club, Idung Imo Akpan Family Council, Miemienyegosi Israel Brown Wari, Omoni-Ye Sughu Family, and the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Bonny Kingdom.
