A former Chief of Staff to the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dagogo Philip Brown has denied any involvement in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Bonny Kingdom Local Content Compliance Committee (BKLCCC) and the SCD JV (Saipem, Chiyoda and Daewoo Joint Venture) for the Train 7 project.
He further said that though he was appointed into the committee he has since withdrawn his membership on the premise of aligning with the interest of his chieftaincy house, the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Finima in Bonny LGA of Rivers State, asserting that while he was in the committee and two years after he distanced himself from it, he never received any allowance.
Brown, who came out with this disclaimer in a telephone chat with Kristina Reports on Saturday, May 21, 2022, stated that he was reacting to a press statement by the Chief and Head of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House, Se-Alabo Evans Brown.
“It is true that my name was among those persons in the committee. I am part of the committee because I was appointed some time ago. But when I attended the meeting once, twice and I now noticed that the discussions that are going on is to the detriment of Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Finima and Finima at large. So, when I noticed that, I had to withdraw.”
“I have withdrawn from attending meetings. What I am telling you is about two years now; it has taken up to about two years that I have withdrawn from attending such meetings.”
“So, for Evans to come now and say that I am present when MOU was signed, and in meetings allowances were shared; I have not been in any meeting where allowance was given to me. I have not been in any meeting that I received any allowance. I was not present in the meeting where an MOU was signed. So, it bothers me, that’s why I am letting the public know that I am not part of all that he said as a person or individual.”
“I have dissociated myself a long time ago because of meetings that I attended when I noticed that their discussions will lead to the detriment of the Buoye Omuso Brown House and Finima at large; of course, I won’t be party to such organization or body. So, I had to withdraw from all the activities of the BKLCCC.”
The Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Finima, which is a part of Bonny Kingdom in Rivers State, last year suffered a debacle it was yet to divorce itself from. Two individuals, Dagogo Lambert Brown and Evans Buoye Brown were at different events installed as Chief and Head of the House, with Mr. Evans Brown being received into the Bonny Chiefs Council as Se-Alabo (country chief) of Bonny Kingdom and Mr. Dagogo Brown was declared as the Amadabo of Finima by the Brown House Council of Wari-Alapu.
Consequently, both men are in court asking the court to determine which of them is the legitimate chief and head of the House. In the meantime, Dagogo Lambert Brown operates from Finima Community and Evans Buoye Brown operates from Port Harcourt due to an attempt on his life in Finima on the day of his presentation to the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom.
Dagogo Philip Brown, who is a former Chairman of the Asawo of the Brown House, stated that he does not recognize Mr. Evans Brown as the Chief and Head of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House or as Se-Alabo (country chief) of Bonny Kingdom, stressing that the claim in the said press statement that he attended meetings of the BKLCCC and collected allowance was a fallacy and a dent to his reputation.
“He is not the Chief and Head of our House, the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House; I do not recognize him as such. Also his statement is meant to tarnish my reputation as I don’t attend BKLCCC meetings or received any allowance from the committee.”
Se-Alabo Evans Brown had issued a press statement dissociating members of the Brown House from a previous press statement by Aseme Alabo Dagogo Brown, which dissociated members of the Brown House from an equally previous statement by the Bonny Kingdom Local Content Compliance Committee (BKLCCC), which was signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Amaopusenibo Opuada Willie-Pepple and Amaopuorubo Helen Pepple, respectively, on the salary benchmark issues of the Train 7 project.
