Super Eagles Stars Shine: Ejuke Ends Goal Drought as Durosinmi Keeps Scoring

Chidera Ejuke and Rafiu Durosinmi delivered impressive performances for their respective European clubs, with both Nigerian forwards finding the net in dramatic league encounters.

Ejuke made an instant impact off the bench as Sevilla secured a convincing 3-0 victory away to Athletic Club at San Mamés.

The Nigerian winger entered the game at the beginning of the second half and needed only four minutes to get on the scoresheet.

With Sevilla leading, Isaac Romero sent Ejuke racing through on goal during a counter-attack. The 28-year-old showed excellent composure before lifting the ball over the goalkeeper to double Sevilla’s advantage.

The goal ended a frustrating wait for Ejuke, who had not scored for the club since December 2025.

His latest strike comes after a difficult period in which Sevilla had initially been prepared to let him leave during the summer.

However, a lack of strong transfer interest saw the winger return to the first-team picture. After making a late appearance against Rayo Vallecano, Ejuke was handed another opportunity against Athletic Club and responded emphatically.

Sevilla eventually completed the victory through Romero, who added a third goal after Athletic had been reduced to 10 men following Yuri Berchiche’s dismissal.

Ejuke’s performance could now complicate Sevilla’s plans to sell him before the transfer window closes.

Durosinmi continues remarkable Genk start

While Ejuke was ending his scoring drought, Rafiu Durosinmi was extending his impressive scoring streak in Belgium.

The 23-year-old striker scored for the third consecutive league appearance for Genk, although his goal was overshadowed by a spectacular late collapse that saw his team surrender a four-goal advantage in a 4-4 draw against Royal Antwerp.

After the first half ended 1-1, Durosinmi struck just three minutes after the restart to put Genk in front. His goal continued a remarkable beginning to his career with the Belgian club.

Genk appeared to have the match comfortably under control after Ayumu Yokoyama made it 3-1 and substitute Aaron Bibout added a fourth. But Antwerp refused to give up.

The hosts launched an extraordinary comeback in the final 10 minutes. Eran Tuypens pulled one back before Michael Frey converted a penalty and then scored again in the 88th minute to complete his brace and rescue a point.

Despite Genk’s disappointment, Durosinmi can take plenty of encouragement from his personal start.

He has now scored in each of his first three league appearances, following goals against Zulte Waregem and Westerlo.

The Nigerian forward’s early form will be particularly encouraging for Genk as they prepare for their next league assignment against SK Beveren.
