The Bonny Youths Federation (BYF) says it will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to protect the girlchild and women, especially, the process of getting justice for a minor that defiled by 40 year old man in Finima Community in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

BYF Director of Women Affairs, Favour Attoni, who said this on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 in Bonny, Rivers State in a chat with Kristina Reports, commended the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for coordinating the process of bringing the suspect to face the law.

“I want to commend the Police; they have really done a great job. In fact, when I got to the police station, I was directed to a senior officer, who told me it was a case of defilement; and that investigation is still ongoing.”

“I was told that, right now, they have taken the guy and the girl to court and that the case has now gotten to the Federal Government, that it’s now a Federal Government case.

“So, for me there is no problem now since they have taken the matter to court. Let’s just hope that the girl gets justice that she really needs.”

She also expressed her gratitude to community members and other concerned citizens who contributed in different ways to support the Police in its efforts at investigating the matter, noting that it was “important that society comes together to protect the girlchild from wolves in sheep clothing”.

“Though the victim’s aunt said she doesn’t want the matter to get escalated you know, because she’s not an indigene of the town, but some concerned persons from Bonny said they will take the matter up, which is very commendable.”

“I’m told that they said that the matter is not hers anymore that they want to take it to court and to make sure that justice is been served.”

A 40-year-old man, Ibifubara Tobin was said to have allegedly defiled a 12-year-old girl (name withheld) in Finima Community recently, an incident that elicited widespread outrage and spurred the Police to swing into action to apprehend him to avoid being lynched by an irate mob.  

Kristina Reports was reliably told by Police sources that the suspect, Ibifubara Tobin has been moved to an unknown security facility in Port Harcourt, thus making it impossible for this tabloid to reach him to get his reaction.
