The election of the Jumbo Major House Youth Association (JMHYA) has been postponed indefinitely.
The JMHYA Electoral Committee announced this in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Adonye Jumbo, on Friday, December 22, 2023.
The statement said the election, which was slated for Sunday, December 24, 2023 was put off to allow the local government and relevant security agencies to conclude their due diligence processes necessary for approval of the election.
The Committee appealed to all candidates, delegates, entire youths of Jumbo Major House and other relevant stakeholders for understanding and patience.
“To this end, all candidates can go about their campaign peacefully. A new date for manifesto presentation and election will be announced in due course.”
He added that “finally, all candidates should be prepared as they may be called at any time for profiling”.
“The Electoral Committee wishes our youths Merry Christmas and a very Prosperous New Year of greatness, togetherness in unity, love, and progressive development.”
Jumbo Major House is one of the 35 chieftaincy houses that comprise Bonny Kingdom in Rivers State, Nigeria.
