Uneasy calm currently pervades the New Jerusalem Road axis of Bonny Island in Rivers State, Nigeria as a father of two suspected to have been robbing residents of the area has died from severe beating by a mob who allegedly caught him in the act.   

Kristina Reports learnt that the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, created panic in the area as shops and other businesses were shut down and residents had to stay indoors for fear of mass arrests by the Police or reprisal attacks by his accomplices.

The suspect (name withheld), who was said to be a father of twin toddlers from his live-in girlfriend said to be pregnant again for him, has reportedly been terrorizing the area from his alleged ceaseless spree of stealing escapades.

Eyewitnesses told Kristina Reports that the now demised suspect, who was caught with some of his loot which included a car battery, household items and other gadgets packed in a sack bag, was paraded around the community before the beating which led to his death.  

Sources further disclosed to Kristina Reports that the remains of the deceased was subsequently taken by his immediate family and friends to the Bonny Cemetery for burial same day.

The Police was yet to make a statement on the development and efforts by Kristina Reports to get the confirmation of the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nnamdi Omoni was yet unsuccessful as at the time of this report.

Also, Kristina Reports could not reach the immediate family of the deceased to get their reaction to the incident as his elder cousin, who is said to own a night club close to the scene of the incident was said to be unavailable.
