The families of the murdered former Director of Administration at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Boma George Amaomu-Jumbo, have called on the Inspector General of Police and the Rivers State Government to ensure justice is served in the matter.
The Head of the late Elder Owen Apiribo Emmanuel Banigo and Dandison Owen Banigo families, Ferdinand Banigo made this call on Monday, May 15, 2023 in an interview with Kristina Reports shortly after the arraignment of John Danjuma, the alleged killer of the deceased, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He disclosed that their sister, Boma Amaomu-Jumbo, died as a result of multiple machete cuts by a man identified as John Danjuma, who was her security guard, stating that his family is demanding justice, warning that the matter should not be swept under the carpet.
“Somebody called me on Tuesday night and said that my sister was murdered, my niece by her former security guard, one John Danjuma, in fact, we got to know today that it was 21 multiple cuts that she received.”
“My family wants justice, and in court today, the magistrate has remanded the suspect in prison custody pending the advice of the DPP, and the matter is coming up in a month’s time, on June 15.
“We don’t know what advice the Director of Public Prosecution is giving, but my family, the Owen Banigo and the Dandison families wants to see that justice is done because justice delayed is justice denied.”
In a video that has now gone viral, Danjuma confessed to killing the ex-UPTH Director at her residence in Port Harcourt at about 5am on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
He said he used a machete he found in her house to give multiple cuts leading to her death over a case of an alleged theft of $10,000 in which he was being charged to court and remanded in prison for.
After being granted bail, he went to the victim’s residence at the GRA axis of Port Harcourt on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 and snuffed life out of her by giving her multiple machete cuts.
Already, there are fears that the issue might be swept under the carpet by some highly placed individuals within the police hierarchy, which unconfirmed sources say were responsible for securing bail for Danjuma, even when the issue of him being a flight risk was raised as objection to granting him bail.
Anonymous sources have hinted Kristina Reports that overtures were allegedly already being made to the police high command and top officials of the Rivers State Government to avail the suspect a soft landing.
One of our sources, volunteered that the challenge before those making the moves was the involvement of the State Deputy Governor, who is an in-law to the deceased, noting these behind-the-scene orchestration was already proving difficult to achieve.
I pray and hopefully believe that the family gets justice. May her soul rest in peace
May her gentle soul rest in peace and may the family gets justice
