The Special Assistant and Chief Photographer to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Idara Adiakpan has donated food items and toiletries to inmates of Qua Iboe Church Leprosy Hospital, Ekpene Obom, Etinan Local Government Area.
The Governor’s aide said the gesture was motivated by the welfaric disposition of her principal, the Governor, adding that since she assumed work with the Governor, she has been amazed by Governor Umo Eno’s empathy for the less privileged.
In a chat with news men shortly after the event, Adiakpan also said the gesture has been a yearly tradition of her father, Dr Nathaniel Adiakpan, which she said was worthy of emulation and advised the inmates to make proper use of the items donated.
She appreciated the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for the platform given to her which, according to her, has made it possible for her to further on her father’s philanthropic gestures.
In his remark, the patron of the hospital, Okon Okpon, thanked Adiakpan for her support and kind gesture towards the inmates of the Leprosy Hospital, and prayed that God will keep, strengthen, and bless the works of her hands, so as to continue in her good works.
On behalf of the inmates, Grace Ebong thanked the donor for her magnanimity towards them, whom she said were the rural dwellers and poorest of the poor.
She used the opportunity to appeal to public spirited individuals and government functionaries to always remember to visit the home, in order to bring them succour.
