High Cost of Living: Etinan LG Flags Off Free Food Distribution to Vulnerable Persons

Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, Uko Umoh, has flagged off free food distribution initiative of the state government for vulnerable persons in the area.

Umoh, who performed the flag off on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at a shop in Etinan Central Market, Etinan, Akwa Ibom State, described the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno’s initiative as a lofty idea that will ameliorate economic pain experienced as a result of the high cost of living in the country.

He was accompanied by the member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Paul Ekpo, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom, SAN and other political office holders.

The Chairman, who was visibly elated over the benevolence of Governor Umo Eno, promised to commission more shops in the hinterlands in order to reach more less privilege.

He emphasized that those whose names were captured on social register are only qualified to benefit from the exercise.

Uko Umoh warned those assigned to monitor and distribute vouchers against favouritism.

“Nobody should think that the food items are given by government. I can assure you that the administration of Pastor Umo Eno will do more for Etinan people.”

Also speaking, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom, SAN appreciated the local government chairman for bringing the flag off to market unlike what is obtained in other places.

“The Governor wanted everybody to go back home and support the idea. Thank you Mr chairman for bringing the flag off to market instead of the council’s Hall”

He commended Etinan people for their cooperation and support for the vision of the Governor assuring them of more developmental initiatives for Etinan Local Government Area by the administration of Umo Eno.

In his words, the House of Representatives member, Paul Ekpo said he needed to show up in order to support the vision of Governor Umo Eno.

He noted that Etinan people will always support Pastor Umo Eno and ensure that his policies and programmes aimed at alleviating poverty and making life meaningful for the people succeed.

The flag off ended with demonstration sale by the Chairman.
