NADCEL 2026: Troops’ Welfare, Manpower Development Are Drivers of National Security – Shaibu

The Nigerian Army has identified operational effectiveness, manpower development, personnel welfare and sound administration as the core pillars driving the troops’ transformation into a professional, adaptive and combat-ready force.

This was made known during an interactive session with media executives on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at the Obi Wali International Conference Center, Port Harcourt by the Chief of Army State, Waidi Shaibu, as part of activities marking the 163rd Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026.

” The Army’s commitment to evolving in response to Nigeria’s dynamic security environment through sustained investments in operational capability, human capital development, troop welfare and institutional reforms”, he said.

Shaibu also attributed recent operational gains to the strategic leadership of the President, Bola Tinubu, whose support and provision of critical resources have significantly enhanced the Army’s capacity to confront emerging threats.

“The ongoing joint operations with sister services, security agencies a d international partners have led to the neutralisation of key terrorist elements, disrupting of criminal networks and restoration of operation”.

Shaibu also emphasized on quality training which remains a fundamental component of troop welfare, adding that the agency has established other Depot in Oshogbo, Osun State and Amasiri-Edda in Ebonyi State to add to the already existing Zaria Depot.

He therefore appreciate the media for it’s professionalism and balanced reportage, describing credible information management as a critical component of modern warfare and national security.
